2001 Fender Custom Shop Strat Silverado #6
Unique Fender Custom Shop creation, only six of these were made for worldwide distribution, this example is the very last one made #6 of 6. The Fender Silverado guitar is basically NOS new old stock, it has never been played, just stored since day one, complete with all paperwork & accessories & unmarked original hardshell case.
The original idea for this guitar came from David Waters, Fender’s East Coast sales manager, Dave got the idea after seeing Stevie Ray Vaughn playing a Fender strat that had been fitted with lipstick tube pickups, the first attempt at the guitar was made at Daves house, from that effort it became an extremely limited run for the Fender Custom Shop, only six guitars were built!
The Silverado guitar is a total hybrid of ideas, styles, & era’s, it plays just incredibly well & sounds superb
The neck is modeled on an original Fender Broadcaster neck, thick chunky Maple, this idea plays out in the Telecaster headstock, the headstock is completely unadorned with any marking other than the Fender decal exactly like a Broadcaster/Nocaster would have been after the Gretsch intervention way back in the early 50s, the rear of the headstock carries the Custom Shop logo, the guitar is finished in the ultra desirable custom color Firemist Silver.
The guitar is not fitted with any tone controls, master volume control, the two holes where the two controls would normally be on a traditional strat are filled with .357 mag shell casings!….. and why not !
